We might not all know a drag queen, named "Epiphany", but we've all have one...so let's pay attention, shall we?

Immigrants Don't Go to Therapy w/ Rena & Stasia presents ....the Last Bits of Summer!
I don't why Summer is ending....but I'm not happy about it, sooo we did a show in the style of a "rain-dance", but more a "summer-come-on-son" feel to it.

I know I'm making seem as if we were able to save a little of the fleeting season; we did what we could.
Due to some travel conflicts, retreats, out of studio insanity, the show is choppy but it's still there.

With all the uprisings, violence, and rioting going on, Rena & Stasia thought the world could use some "laughs"...Stasia calls this the "It's a Riot!" special...Rena calls it the "Comedy Special", either way, we all need to laugh, 'cause it's good for the soul.
Lucille Ball's would be "100th Birthday" was commemorated last week, as well as statue of a a 60-something Andy Warhol...

Rena is out of the Studio, working in Finland in the show "UKI-NYKI", and Stasia is in Burnaby holding it down with an in-studio guest aritst Laurelle Miciak.

Stasia touched on the Canadian Hip-Hop Documentary "Hip-Hop Eh??"...and opened up a discussion that will be re-visited in a future show, when Rena is back in Vancouver.

This weeks show was our 1st "across the sea", experience...a short interview from the cast of "UKI-NYKI", which is part of Europe's Culture Capital 2011 in Turku, Finland, a mix from DJ Lady Lane, done Live in Turku, Finland, and Stasia's Holding down of the Fort: Part Un.

Tribute to the Victims in Norway, Amy Winehouse, Butch Lewis, and anybody who lost someone that weekend. We tried to uplift the spirits, as we both felt that people were hurting that weekend.
Of course a "DEPRESSION, VACATION, RECESSION" Special was in order...keep in mind we had planned that before the sad news of the weekend was delivered. Still we gave some points on the 5 Countries suffering from the Economic Peril that has hit.... GREECE, ITALY, PORTUGAL, SPAIN & the USA.
Rena also experienced exhaustion, brain farts and the Naked Poets, "pied piper" on drugs-like banter. [She called...twice!] Stasia held down the fort with the facts and the structure.

Have you been feeling like you are suddenly "too old, for this music"? Or confused after listening to the "new hot sh*t on the street"? I have been feeling geriatric, and directionally lost, wondering "what street is this hot on?!" It's not YOU, it's the MUSIC.

The State of "Hip-Hop" has been a heavily debated topic, for years. However, as of late I have noticed that the issue of the "bastardization" of the art-form has not only been an "ear-sore", but a detriment to society. While this intro may be a bit, melodramatic, it is fitting.

Hip-Hop is a musical & artistic creation that should be honored. Collaborations of Hip-Hop with R& B, Rock, Soul, etc. are also noteworthy; when they are good. From the outpourings on Twitter, Blogs, and even Major News Stations....okay GOSSIP sections of Major News Stations, it is not being honored. It is being turned into an alien, watered-down, drone that used to be called music.

Does that mean that Hip-Hop is dead? NO! In fact, Hip-Hop is ALIVE & WELL! The issue is "Categorizing". Perhaps this is a Westernized ideal, for order, and hierarchy, but society has had an increasing need to know "Who? What? Where? When? How? and Why?" for everything. Unfortunately, elements of laziness are also apparent in Human Error. What is being played on the radios and projected as "the next big thing", is not Hip-Hop. It is a Hybrid. Electro-Pop fusions with Rapping and Singing, have been lumped into the "Hip-Hop" category, instead of their own "Fusion" category.

The Music Industry is a Business, first and foremost. With a watered-down, saturated market, barriers of entry are quite low. Technology has allowed the good and the bad to flourish. Laziness is also a residual "syndrome", and has allowed for malleable brains.
Simply put: Are you going to pick through the garbage to find the gold, or are you going to pick up the fool's gold, and wishfully hope for treasure?

We need to STOP CALLING EVERYTHING with "Rapping", HIP-HOP! The sooner we realize, the differences between the two, the sooner people can stop stressing and worrying over, "what will the younger generation listen to?" and "why are my ears bleeding?". For example: In the 90s, you would never group Wu-Tang and Uncle Luke together....EVER! When and Why have we started doing this?
There are collectives of known and unknown artists all over the world, creating good music. Where is the music? It's EVERYWHERE, it's unfortunately buried under the Packaging of Capitalism.
There are actual Record Labels and A&R execs, that publish, distribute, and sign real artists. There are amazing artists independently creating music; this goes for all types of music.

So if you let, technology "Shuffle pick" your listening choices, then expect to hear the mess that has been dubbed "Hip-Hop". 90% of the music categorized as "Hip-Hop" on the radio, is the "Hybrid". Know what you're listening to. The word "artist" is constantly overused. All Musicians are NOT Artists, therefore, all music is not created as art/and or quality. Bad Music is Bad Art; don't make it.

All I'm saying is, I'm tired of my ears bleeding, the wrinkled brow of confusion, and ignoring requests for "Hip-Hop Hybrids", being disguised as "Hip-Hop".

It always puzzles me when people get surprised at someone's normal behavior.
